Riverfront Park promenade to open May 3

SPOKANE - The North Suspension pedestrian bridge is closing today for maintenance, and the new North Promenade will open in time for Bloomsday, bringing an enhanced entry into Riverfront.

We apologize for the inconvenience for pedestrians during the next two weeks until the North Promenade opens. Until May 3, pedestrians and cyclists can take Post St. or Washington St. to get north and south.
Beginning Bloomsday weekend 2019, visitors can use the new North Promenade (green section on the map) to enter the park, cross along snx? mene? Island, and across the South Suspension bridge.
Later this summer or early fall, the Central promenade will open and connect the north and south banks of the river directly through the park over the blue and orange bridges.
Viewing the Falls
The South Suspension Bridge will remain open for falls viewing. Huntington Park, the SkyRide, and the Post Street Bridge sidewalk are also excellent ways to view the river and falls.
Renovation of North Suspension Bridge
The North Suspension Bridge is in need of renovation, primarily a new deck. The duration of the closure won’t be known until a renovation and maintenance review can be completed by a bridge engineering firm.
The bridge deck experienced some damage over the winter. Parks and City Bridge staff have applied temporary solutions, but the timing is right to close the bridge until longer term solutions are in place.
North Promenade Opening
Beginning approximately May 3, 2019 a new gateway into the park will feature a renovated Expo butterfly, extending into a well-lit and enhanced pathway into the park.
