Downtown Plan Update Public Workshop #2 - Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 6-8 p.m.

Wednesday, February 5, 2020

Greetings to all Downtown Plan interested parties:

The City of Spokane and Downtown Spokane Partnership invite you to a second public workshop looking for your input on the Downtown Plan Update, to be held February 5, 2020, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wonder Building Market (835 N Post St). Please note the new location in the growing North Bank area. This meeting is the next step in a process that will result in a series of recommended actions and guidance for new development in Downtown Spokane for the next ten years. Your feedback is vital in creating an actionable, vetted, and effective plan for the future of Downtown Spokane from a broad variety of Downtown users.

Check in on progress of the plan at the workshop and provide feedback on the draft vision, goals, and supporting strategies.  The meeting will feature display boards and a large wall map of the Downtown planning area to collect your comments and ideas.  The plan update team consists of staff from the City, Downtown Spokane Partnership, and their planning consultant, Framework. The team wants feedback on a Draft Vision + Strategy Framework for the update (attached, 2 pages), covering several topics, such as: walkability and connectivity; public spaces; arts, culture, and history; housing, parking, and transit; and attracting downtown businesses.

The meeting format will be a drop-in open house.  The plan update’s staff will be at hand to guide attendees through the exhibits, answer questions, and help citizens give input at the workshop.  An online survey focused on the draft strategies will be open for a week following the meeting if you cannot attend in person.

Feedback received will be incorporated throughout the process, with final adoption by the Spokane City Council expected in late spring 2020. See Framework’s project website or the City’s webpage for more information.
