Read the Draft Subarea Plan and Review Proposed Zone Changes

A draft of the South University District Subarea Plan, which provides a vision for future development of a 214-acre area just east of the downtown core. The subarea plan includes a vision statement, goals, and policies to guide future development in the South University District, and proposes specific zone changes in a 90-acre area focused on the frontages of E. Sprague Avenue and S. Sherman Street.

Neighborhood and Planning Services staff will hold an open house on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm at PRIDE Prep Public Charter School, 811 E Sprague Avenue to provide information and gather feedback about the South University District subarea plan. No formal presentation will be made at the open house. Staff have planned as an opportunity for South University District stakeholders and community members interested in the subarea plan to have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the proposal with staff prior to the start of the Plan Commission review process.

Share Your Comments in Writing or at the March 25, 2020 Plan Commission Hearing

Spokane Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on March 25, 2020 at 4 pm in the City Council Chambers, Lower Level of City Hall at 808 W Spokane Falls Boulevard to consider the South University District Subarea Plan and the proposed Land Use Plan Map, zoning, and overlay map changes.

The following documents provide more information about the hearing and the Plan Commission and State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review processes for this proposal:

Comments can be submitted by testifying at the public hearing or by sending written comments to Christopher Green, Assistant Planner at cgreen@spokanecity.org or by mail to 808 W Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, WA 99201. Written comments must be received no later than noon on March 24, 2020 if they are intended to alter or appeal the DNS.
