STA Releases Details of Free Summer Pass

Tuesday, May 18, 2021

SPOKANE, WA – Today Spokane Transit (STA) released details of the STA Summer Pass pilot program, a free pass for unlimited rides from June 15 to September 15 for all youth ages 6-18 or students enrolled in grades K-12. The agency also released a promotional toolkit for program partners to share information throughout the various jurisdictions within STA’s service area, including school districts. The toolkit includes posters, social media videos, digital displays, table tents, and an STA Kids Map.

The STA Board of Directors approved the pilot program in April to meet multiple objectives including increased access to transit for young people, the development of future transit users, and establishing financial cost estimates for the jurisdictions within STA’s service area to contract for similar services in the future.

STA Summer Passes will be available at local libraries within STA’s service areas beginning June 15 and are limited to the first 15,000 youth who pick up a card in-person. Students entering the ninth through twelfth grades (or ages 14-18)  will be required to verify age or school enrollment.

STA’s service areas includes the cities of Airway Heights, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Medical Lake, Millwood, Spokane, Spokane Valley and parts of the unincorporated county.
