STA INVITES PUBLIC TO VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE - March 2

Wednesday, March 2, 2022

SPOKANE – The Spokane Transit Authority will introduce and ask for feedback on their I-90/Valley Corridor High Performance Transit (HPT) project to the Spokane community via a virtual public meeting on March 2, 2022, at 5:30 pm.

This project is one of six HPT corridors slated for improvements in the STA Moving Forward Plan, made possible by the 2016 voter approved Proposition 1, a ballot-measure that authorized and funded a 10-year plan for the transit agency to implement over 25 projects to support public transit across the region.

The I-90/Valley Corridor HPT project aims to support the economic vitality and growth of the region by improving mobility on the busiest urban corridor in the region. The project will include new and improved routes and expanded transit facilities along I-90 in Greater Spokane Valley, including Millwood and Liberty Lake.  It envisions new connections to Downtown and the West Plains. STA is also planning an interstate pilot project for bus service to Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene, subject to a cross-state partnership.

The virtual public meeting will be held on March 2, 2022, at 5:30 pm via Zoom and can be accessed on STA’s Facebook Page and at www.spokanetransit.com/i90. Staff will introduce the planning effort and review major elements that will be incorporated into a corridor development plan. The meeting includes an opportunity for public input and a question-and-answer session with project planners and engineers. An online survey will be available at the link above from March 3 – 17.

Following this public meeting, STA will finalize this phase of the project plan for approval by the STA Board of Directors. Pending approval, the project will be designed and engineered with the goal of being fully implemented by 2025.
