SPOKANE, Wash., November 2, 2022—Kim Zentz, an executive officer with years of service to numerous for- and non-profit organizations in Spokane has received the University District Development Association’s 2022 Impact Award.

Launched in 2017, the Impact Award honors those who serve by example, who are highly effective leaders and selfless collaborators, who inspire and spark social change, and who are deliberative, transformative, and truly invested in the well-being of the University District (UD) community. Previous Impact Award recipients include Dave and Mari Clack (2017), Kim Pearman-Gillman (2019), Dean Allen (2020), and Jim Sheehan (2021).

Ms. Zentz was one of a handful of community leaders involved in the formation of the University District. She served on the UD board from 2007-2018 providing crucial guidance as a top-notch systems thinker, strategist, and tactical advisor.

Kim’s “day job” accomplishments—with organizations such as Avista, Washington State University, Innovate Washington, Urbanova, and Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute—are numerous and impressive. With over 30 years of experience in the utilities, alternative energy technology, economic development, and transportation sectors, Kim has played a key role in leveraging many of our region’s major public and private infrastructure investments.

“Kim has been and continues to be a tremendous gift to the people of Spokane and specifically to the University District. Having first met Kim in 2016 when I was with the Downtown Spokane Partnership, I was then, as now, impressed by her keen intelligence, inquisitive nature, and collaborative mindset,” notes University District CEO, Juliet Sinisterra.

Lindsey Myhre, University District board chair and STCU’s executive vice-president and CFO adds, “Kim can work with any kind of team, on any given project and create the best possible process to accomplish just about anything. That holistic and compassionate approach has been invaluable to our organization. It is a privilege to acknowledge Kim for her founding role and years of service to the University District.”
