After a national search, Jenni Martin, Ed.D, has been selected as the President of Spokane Community College. Martin had been serving as SCC Acting President since May 2023 when Dr. Kevin Brockbank, SCC’s former President, was named Chancellor of Community Colleges of Spokane.

“Jenni has demonstrated incredible knowledge of the state community college system. She has a reputation in our local community for her advocacy for the college programs that fuel our economy. She is innovative, dedicated and determined to continue to be a leader who puts the needs of our students first,” said Brockbank. “I am confident Jenni is the best candidate for this position.”

Dr. Martin was SCC’s Vice President of Instruction from 2016-2023 and has served in numerous positions at SCC and CCS’s Institute for Extended Learning, which was moved into SCC’s operations. These positions include Assistant Dean of Workfirst and I-BEST in Adult Basic Education from 2008-2010; Workfirst Manager from 2004-2008; and Adjunct Adult Basic Education instructor from 2000-2007. Before joining Community Colleges of Spokane, Dr. Martin was a physical education faculty member and head coach for Women’s Soccer at Eastern Washington University.

Dr. Martin completed her Ed.D. at Northeastern University in Higher Education Administration, her Master of Education in Adult Education at Eastern Washington University and her Bachelor of Arts in History at Gonzaga University. She also took part in the Washington Executive Leadership Academy (WELA).

She has been a leader in numerous local, regional and statewide higher education boards and organizations. These include serving as a member and president of the SBCTC Instruction Commission, being a member of the SBCTC Operating Budget Committee and Educational Services Committee. Dr. Martin also served on the NewTech Advisory Committee, the Tech Hub Workforce Advisory Committee, the Spokane Valley Chamber Workforce Committee and the Eastern Washington Partnership Workforce Development Council. She remained active in soccer for many years as a board member for the Inland Empire Soccer Referee Association, the Spokane Valley Junior Soccer Association and as a referee.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to serve as the next president of Spokane Community College," Martin said. "SCC is full of committed faculty and staff who truly live out our mission of serving students and making a positive difference in their community every single day. I believe SCC is in a position to continue to build on the partnerships that result in economic and workforce development in Eastern Washington.  When our students succeed, our communities benefit."
