WSU Health Sciences Check up for November 2024

Tuesday, November 19, 2024

Dear Friends,

As we embrace the season of gratitude, I’m reminded of the incredible impact you—our alumni, health professionals, and partners—have on WSU Spokane’s mission to improve health outcomes across all of Washington. This past year, your support empowered our students and faculty to lead transformative health care initiatives that reach diverse populations.

November is Native American Heritage Month, and I’m proud to share WSU Spokane’s efforts in Indigenous-led health research and education. This year, our Center for Native American Health celebrated the first campus-wide ceremony for our Native American students, welcomed high school and current students to campus for two of our summer programs, and continued our unique Indigenous Healing Perspectives certificate program. We’re making strides in Native American research while honoring and recognizing our Indigenous communities. You can read more about these activities here.

In alignment with our commitment to underserved communities, we also recognize National Rural Health Day this month. On November 21, I invite you to join us for Wake Up With Research as WSU experts present Empowering Rural Health: Innovations and Insights for Stronger Communities, sharing new research aimed at improving health in rural areas. Registration is still open, so please join us.

Finally, as Giving Tuesday nears, please consider supporting our students and programs. Your generosity drives change and health equity across communities. Watch for more details in the coming weeks.
