Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!
The year 2024 was an exceptional one at WSU Spokane, filled with milestones that showcased the strength of our community and our commitment to advancing health education, research, and service across Washington.
This spring, we celebrated the graduation of another remarkable class of health professionals making a difference in communities and welcomed over 1,500 new and returning health sciences students across programs statewide in the fall.
We also marked a significant milestone as we proudly welcomed the first cohort of six resident physicians to Spokane through the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine's pediatrics residency program. The program, launched in partnership with Providence Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, works to advance pediatric care in Eastern Washington. Additionally, we began planning a transformative and innovative health education facility to foster interprofessional collaboration and advance healthcare research.
In September, we hosted our inaugural joint symposium with Seattle Children’s Research Institute, where experts gathered to discuss the future of pediatric healthcare and to plan collaborative jointly-funded efforts to address critical health challenges.
The progress and milestones we have made this year are a direct result of the unwavering support we have received from our community. Whether through partnership, advocacy, or investment, your involvement has been instrumental to our success. We look forward to building on this momentum In 2025 and are excited about the future as we continue shaping the healthcare landscape together!
Go Cougs!
