WSU nursing school names interim associate dean of academic affairs

Sarah Fincham has officially accepted the appointment as interim associate dean for academic affairs at Washington State University’s College of Nursing effective Oct. 2, 2025.
Fincham joined the college in 2015 and has demonstrated exemplary leadership and an unwavering dedication to the college’s academic mission. She has previously served as interim director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and as interim chair of the Advanced Practice Department. In each of these roles, Fincham brought a steadfast commitment to excellence, a collaborative spirit, and a focus on continuous improvement.
In addition to her new role, Fincham will continue to serve as the director of faculty practice. She is also a clinical associate professor and practices as a family nurse practitioner with a focus on enhancing the quality of community-based healthcare.

I’m excited to continue that work together as we strengthen our academic excellence and support the next generation of Coug Nurses.”
In her new position, Fincham will provide leadership for academic programs and faculty support across the college. Over the fall semester, she will meet with faculty, staff, and student groups to ensure a smooth transition while coordinating ongoing academic priorities. She will assume immediate supervision of the Spokane and Yakima experiential learning managers overseeing simulation and practice labs.
