City to Launch Spokane Matters 2.0 - March 29

Last year, the City of Spokane launched a pilot program called, Spokane Matters. The program aimed at integrating services between City of Spokane departments, social service agencies, the private sector, faith organizations, educational institutions and neighborhood councils. The goal was to address the specific needs and characteristics of each district throughout Spokane. Since, the launch of the Spokane Matter program it has helped push forward improvements in all four target areas; District 1, District 2, District 3 and Downtown.

Thursday, Spokane Matters 2.0 will kick off. The new and improved program will be more streamline, meaning less district meetings and more focus on the work groups. Members of these work groups will collaborate to think of creative and innovative ideas to solve issues in all four districts. Each district will be working on up to three issues a year, this will allow the work groups to stay focused and progress. These work groups will report their progress on the three selected issues at the Mayor’s quarterly performance meetings.

Join us Thursday, March 29 from 2 – 4 p.m. for the Spokane Matters 2.0 kickoff at the West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt Street. You will have the opportunity to share what district-specific issues you would like to focus on and projects will be selected.
